This week, Aaron Studwell, Manager of Weather Operations, is attending the 97th Annual Meeting of the American Meteorological Society (AMS) in Seattle, WA. During the first two days, Studwell, along with Joel Siegel from the ARINC office in Annapolis, MD represented Rockwell Collins at the AMS Career Fair. Over these sessions, Studwell and Siegel met about 125 students, discussed careers in marine and aviation meteorology at Rockwell Collins, what we look for in prospective employees – a passion for weather and forecasting and willingness to learn.
This passion for learning is what keeps Studwell at the AMS Annual Meeting this week. From sessions ranging from offshore winds to tropical cyclone forecasting to thunderstorm electrification, the research being presented in Seattle is cutting edge. This knowledge will be conveyed to both our operational staff and senior management. This is also integrated into the Wilkens Weather operational procedures, as appropriate.
Finally, with Studwell working on his Ph.D. in Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Houston, Wilkens Weather looks forward to Studwell presenting at upcoming AMS National Meetings, sharing his knowledge with the meteorological community, as he does with his co-workers.
